Robert 'Bob' Edmund Bundy — Winona
Robert "Bob" Edmund Bundy, 92, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, surrounded by family at Winona Health.
Bob was born on July 3, 1922, in Durand, Wis., to George and Mary (Brenner) Bundy. He graduated from Durand High School in 1940. Bob worked in Durand at several different businesses. He became a member of the Wisconsin CCC. He attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. During his schooling, he proudly served for three years in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater as a radio operator. After the war ended, Bob returned to Coyne Electrical School and completed his training.
Bob married Dorothy Langert on Aug. 19, 1946, in Mondovi, Wis. They settled in Winona in a home that Bob built in Goodview. They lived there until their move to Callista Court in September 2011. Bob worked at H. Choate and Co. as an electronic technician until 1985. He was co-founder of the Goodview Volunteer Fire Department and was a member for 26 years. Bob was also a member of the Goodview Village Council, and he was instrumental in the development of the Goodview public water system.
Bob loved to bowl and fish. He said "He always caught the big ones and the kids always caught the little ones." Bob loved spending time with his family on many camping trips, fishing vacations and traveling to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and other states in the U.S.
Preceded in death by parents; brother Erwin; sisters, Margaret Drazkowski, Florence Frederickson, Alvera Olney and Dorothy Hengst.
Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy; children, Sharon (Gerald) Wickham of Eau Claire, Wis., Michael (Susan) of Burnsville, Nancy (Bruce) Whetstone of Mazeppa and Alan (Sharon) of Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. St. Mary's Catholic Church, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. in the visitation commons. American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 will perform military honors. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi, Wis.
