Robert H. Gerber - Adams

ADAMS — Robert Henry Gerber, 87, of Adams, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the Adams Health Care Center.

Robert was born April 3, 1923, at Adams, the son of John and Martha (Blonigan) Gerber. He attended country school in rural Adams. Robert was married to Margaret Anna Retterath at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Nov. 24, 1942. They farmed in the Adams area. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Dorothy Gerber of Adams; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Garvey of Wayzata, Minn., and Cindy and John Thomas of Lake City; daughter-in-law, Marlys Gerber of Adams; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Jurine Gerber of Austin, Jerome and Darlene Gerber of Adams, Lawrence Gerber of Stewartville, and Rosella Gerber of Austin; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; a son, Richard Gerber; a brother, Ray Gerber; and two sisters, Florence Fasbender and Serelda Kramer.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Adams Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. There will be a 4:30 p.m. Rosary and a 7:45 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday evening.
