Roger C. Nelson - Hayfield

Roger C. Nelson, 87, of Hayfield, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Saint Marys Hospital after a brief illness.

Roger resided in Hayfield and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In his later years, was a self-employed bookkeeper. Roger, and Army-Air Force veteran served in the military during the European Campaign. He enjoyed baseball and being a member of the Hayfield American Legion. He never married.

Survivors include nephews, James and Richard of Hayfield, Jerry of Omaha, Neb.; nieces, Judy Kuchinka of Kasson, Mary Landry of Baker, La., and Susan Richardson of Hayfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Justine, brothers, Douglas and Robert, sisters, Florence and Francis and nephews, Darrel and Dennis.

No funeral will be held, however a Celebration of Life will take place at the Hayfield American Legion on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
