Roselyn Marie Peterson

Roselyn Marie Peterson, 87, of Hayfield, MN passed away on September 5, 2020, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Roselyn was born on September 25, 1932 the daughter of Harold Henry and Nelsena Karoline (Skow) Ferguson in Ellendale, MN. Rosey graduated from Ellendale High School in 1950. She obtained a 3 year nursing degree from Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, MN. Rosey was united in marriage to Eldon Peterson on May 27, 1956 in Ellendale, MN. The couple moved to Babbitt, MN for 8 ½ years and then moved to Hayfield in 1965.

Rosey worked in many different RN roles at Ely and Austin hospital’s until finding her calling at Field Crest Care Center for 27 years until her retirement.

Rosey enjoyed singing-especially with her 6 sisters, traveling the United States and many countries. Camping, gardening, canning and especially spending time with all her family. Rosey was very active in her community, she started Mobile Meals in Hayfield. She organized and delivered meals for over 2 decades. She cared for many people of the Hayfield community, going to their homes to help them through health issues when things were to challenging to do it alone. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Hayfield. She served on many committee’s and very active with the Presbyterian Woman’s association. Rosey was nominated Hayfield’s citizen of the year in 2014.

Roselyn is survived by her children, Charles (Judy) Peterson, Chanhassen, MN; Thomas (Lonna) Peterson, Tallahassee, FL; Mark (Kathy) Peterson, Hayfield, MN; and Kristi (Scott) Jacobsen, Hayfield, MN; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson and sister, Mildred Flugum. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon in 2019; five sisters, Wanda Christensen, Helen Holmes, Anna Foster, Beulah Crabtree and Alice Richards.

Private graveside service will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring, covid pending. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials of personal choice. Sympathy cards can be sent to: 33608 590th Ave. Hayfield, MN 55940.
