Shirley J. Lowrie — Stewartville

Shirley J. Lowrie, 87, of Stewartville, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Samaritan Bethany, Arbor Terrace-Memory Care in Rochester, where she had been a resident since October of last year.

Shirley Jean Amundson was born June 26, 1928, in Rochester to Oscar and Ada (Schilling) Amundson. She grew up in Rochester and attended school there. Shirley was united in marriage on Dec. 27, 1947, to Fahy Fred Lowrie in Rochester. The couple were business owners in Zumbro Falls and Douglas prior to moving to Pleasant Grove Township, where they lived for a number of years and raised their sons Terrance and Timothy. Shirley was a homemaker, and Fahy was a self-employed mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Quarve Anderson Construction in Rochester. They most recently lived at the Stewartville Assisted Living Apartments in Stewartville. Shirley was a member of Stewartville Christian Church.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Fahy; a son, Terry; a daughter-in-law, Gayle (Timothy), and a number of grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy, her parents and brothers, Delman, Donovan (Dode) and Samuel Amundson.

The memorial service for Shirley will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Stewartville Christian Church, with pastors David and Becky Hoot officiating. A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.
