Stanley E. Anderson - Sargeant
SARGEANT — Stanley E. Anderson, 86 of rural Sargeant, died at Austin Medical Center Hospital Thursday, March 4, 2010.
He was born Oct. 31, 1923, to Ernest and O’Tillie (Larsen) Anderson in rural Waltham. He attended Sargeant Country School and graduated from Austin High School in 1941. On Dec. 12, 1945, he married Carol Jean Pike in Austin. They made their home on the family farm near Sargeant, where Stanley farmed for 61 years.
He served on the Sargeant School Board and was involved in the consolidation of Hayfield/Brownsdale schools. A lifetime member of Zion United Methodist Church in Sargeant, he was a church trustee and member of the building committee. He also served on the Waltham Cemetery Board, Central Livestock Association Board, AMPI, Eagles Club, and FHA Board. He loved being outdoors on the farm and going to the coffee shop in Sargeant to visit with his friends and fellow farmers.
Stanley and Carol moved to Austin. Carol died on July 31, 2008.
Stanley was always there for family and friends.
Survivors include five children, Terry (Kathi) Anderson of Hayfield, Patti Hammock of Hayfield, Sue (James) Beyer of Stewartville, Thomas Anderson of Sargeant and Cathy (Eric) Severson of Kasson; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Jacobson of Grand Meadow. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; daughter, Linda; one brother and three sisters; and a son-in-law, Lee Hammock.
Funeral services will be held at Zion United Methodist Church in Sargeant at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, with the Rev. Jon Schultz officiating. Visitation is at Worlein Funeral Home Sunday, March 7, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Waltham Cemetery.
Casketbearers are Heath, Jared, Dane and Hunter Anderson, Lee Schmeling, and Jonathan Severson. Honorary bearers are Angela Burt, Crystal Anderson, Ashley Bartesch, Heather Schmeling Swygman, Bailey Anderson, Courtney and Caitlyn Severson.
