Stanley E. Palmer — Rochester
Stanley E. Palmer, 83, of Rochester, died peacefully surrounded by family Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Red Wing Hospital.
Stanley Edmund Palmer was born March 29, 1931, to Albert and Anna (Sackel) Palmer in Fairfax. After high school Stanley served two years with the U.S. Army. Then moved to Rochester where he has resided since 1957. He married Marilyn Alms on Aug. 31, 1957, in Red Wing. He worked as a phone installer for Western Electric which later merged to AT&T for over 30 years. Stanley retired in 1986.
He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. Stanley enjoyed his family, playing cards, going to Arizona during the winter, watching the stock market, reading the newspaper, coin collecting and watching baseball, football and golf.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Rochester; three daughters, Theresa Palmer of Fort Meyers, Fla., Julie (Neil) Foley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lisa (Tom) Harreld of Livingston, Mont.; three sons, Philip Palmer of Gardner, Kan., Daniel (Anna) Palmer of Byron and Nicolas (Jeannie) Palmer of Eden Prairie; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eileen Thies of Grand Rapids.
He is preceded in death by a son, Joe; five brothers; and his parents.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church (1315 12th Ave. N.W.), with the Rev. Charlie Collins officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association or Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or donor's choice.
