Susan “Susie” Puetz — Plainview

Susan "Susie" Puetz, 71, of Plainview, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday morning, Aug. 10, 2013, after a brief illness with cancer at her home in Plainview.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery in Plainview, all of her family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service with lunch and fellowship following the service at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview.

Susan Kae Haessig was born Feb. 12, 1942, in Plainview, to Delbert and Pearl (Raymond) Haessig. She grew up and attended Plainview Community Schools and lived her entire lifetime in Plainview. On Sept. 13, 1958, she married Donald Puetz in Plainview.Susie worked for Mayo Clinic for 20+ years in Rochester, retiring in 2002. She also had been employed for seasonal work at Lakeside Foods in Plainview. Susie was a daycare provider for several years, had worked at Heim Carpet in Plainview, she also worked part-time at Hillcrest Care Center in Plainview.

She was a former member of St. Joachim's Ladies Guild, and Immanuel Lutheran Church both in Plainview. Susie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, going fishing and boating, baking, refurbishing furniture and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her family, and going to garage sales with her granddaughter.

Susie is survived by her loving husband, Donald Puetz of Plainview; two daughters, Jamie (Ryan) Groebner, of Plainview and Kristy (Mike Miller) Puetz, of St. Charles; two sons, Mike (Kathy) Puetz, of St. Charles and Steve (Rhonda) Puetz, of Rollingstone; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters, Janice Haessig Madden, of Rochester, Karen Bell and Rosemary "Mitzi" (Pete) Johnson, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one brother, Robert "Bob" Haessig, of Plainview.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Family prefers memorials to daughter, Kristy Puetz Benefit Fund, Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union, Rochester. Kristy is fighting stage IV Ovarian Cancer.
