Thomas D. Dicke — Goodhue
Thomas D. Dicke, 66, of Goodhue, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday (June 11, 2016).
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel and an hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will be at Belvidere Union Cemetery.
Thomas Donald Dicke was born on June 7, 1950, in Red Wing, to Donald and Ruth (Dahling) Dicke. Tom grew up on the family farm in Belvidere Township and attended District 30 Country School. While in high school, he started running the family farm and became active in FFA. He received the DeKalb Leadership Award. He graduated from Goodhue High School in 1968. Tom joined the Army Reserves in 1969 and worked for Lodermeier Implement as a mechanic in Goodhue. Tom married Betty Ann Starz on June 23, 1973, at United Redeemer Lutheran Church. They started dairy farming in 1974 and had five children. They dairied until 1996 and now continue to raise crops and beef cattle. Tom also worked for the Zumbrota Livestock Barn.
Tom enjoyed working on the farm with family, talking with friends, Allis Chalmers tractors, his Shorthorn beef cattle, assisting his kids and grandkids with 4-H projects and spending time with family. Tom and Betty received the FFA Honorary Chapter Degree from Goodhue FFA. Tom was a member of the Goodhue County 4-H Livestock Auction Committee and volunteered countless hours to the 4-H program.
Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty; children, Pauline (Paul) Van Nurden of Sunburg, Pamela (Guy) Bunnell of Seymour, Wis., Patricia (Jeremy) Lindloff of Baraboo, Wis, Penni (Joseph) Olsen of Blooming Prairie and Derek (Jillian) Dicke of Goodhue; grandchildren, Haley, Allison, Jack, Courtney, Mason, Wyatt, Samantha, Payten, Lane, Justin, Hayden, Trevin, Abby and Macy; brother, Morris (Terri) Dicke of Red Wing; sister, Sheila (John) Krie of Red Wing; and great-nephew, Weston Anderson.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
