Velva L. Kath - Dodge Center
The visitation for Velva LaVerne Kath will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street N.W. in Hayfield.
Graveside service will be at the Concord Cemetery in Concord, at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012.
Velva LaVerne Kath, 97, of Dodge Center, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Velva LaVerne was born Aug. 29, 1914, the daughter of David and Lottie (Stover) Redden, in Conger. Velva was united in marriage to John William Kath at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, in 1939.
Velva was a volunteer of the Women's Auxiliary and she enjoyed making crafts as a volunteer at the Fairview Nursing Home. Velva was a homemaker, known for her skill in making bread and putting up canned goods. She also enjoyed music, dancing and auctions. Velva adored children of all ages and taught Sunday School. During the summer Velva would operate a stand at the Dodge County Fair selling homemade taffy made from honey.
Velva is survived by her son, Raymond (Marlene) Kath, West Concord; one brother, Roger (LaVerne) Redden, El Cajon, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, Clyde Fette; her daughter, Joanne Delger; two brothers, David and Calvin; and three sisters, Ethel, Marvel and Evelyn.
