Violet M. Waadevig - Rochester

Violet Melvina Waadevig, 85, formerly of Rochester, and a resident the past few years at Chosen Valley Retirement Community in Chatfield, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, in Saint Marys Hospital.

Born Aug. 26, 1926, in Rushford, to Clarence R. and Olia (Hatleli) Olson. She married Morris L. Waadevig on March 18, 1947, in Lanesboro, and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2001.

They were longtime members of Zumbro Lutheran Church. She worked 20 years at SuperValu Grocery in Rochester, retiring in the late-1970s. She also was a daycare provider for many years after her retirement.

She is survived by a brother, Darold Olson (June) of Stillwater; and a sister, Vivian Horan (Terry) of St. Paul; 15 nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Signa Sorenson (Robert) of Chatfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel, with Pastor Shelley Cunningham of Zumbro Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour before the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
