Virginia K. Harens — Worthington

Virginia K. Harens, of Worthington, passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015.

Virginia was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Granville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (nee Diederich) Goergen. She married Robert Harens on April 17, 1939. Robert died Aug. 6, 1993.

Virginia grew up and was educated at St. Joseph's School in Granville, Iowa. After marriage, they lived in Lismore, Minn., for a year and then moved to Worthington. They farmed east of town until their retirement. She moved to the Shalom Manor Apartments in 1993.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the hospital auxiliary and The Catholic Order of Foresters.

Preceded in death by husband, Robert; sons, Roger and Nicholas, and daughter, Mary Charlet.

Virginia is survived by sons, James (Judy) of Rochester, Donald (Donna) of St. Paul, David (Marlys) Minneapolis, John (Gloria) of Minneapolis, Michael (Mary) of St. Paul and Thomas Harens of St. Paul; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

An April 17, 2015, inurnment is planned at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, following an 8 a.m. Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
