Wayne Gallas — Rochester
A memorial service for Wayne Gallas will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The Rev. Thomas Loomis will officiate.
Mr. Gallas, 74, of Rochester, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester.
Wayne Joseph Gallas was born March 26, 1940, in Winona, the son of Vince and Mary Gallas. Raised in Winona, he was a graduate of Cotter High School and Saint Mary's College. In 1964, he was was united in marriage to Susan Lubinski. Mr. Gallas was employed by Red Owl, first as an assistant manager in Mankato, and then as a manager for their store in New Ulm. Moving to Rochester, he continued as a store manager with Red Owl at the Apache Mall location. Eventually, he became a manager of the Rochester Bridgeman's Restaurant, and then became the district manager for 15 years. He concluded his career with the Pump House Restaurant, retiring five years ago.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing with his family and vacationing in Arkansas.
Mr. Gallas is survived by his wife, Susan Gallas of Rochester; three sons, Greg (Bobbie) Gallas of Rochester, Jeff Gallas of Rochester and Patrick Gallas of Saint Joseph, Ark.; a daughter, Sara Gallas of Rochester; six grandchildren, Codey (Amanda) Gallas, Kylar Gallas, Seth Morse, Angela Morse, Olivia Morse and William Morse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mary Ann Prudoehl.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
