William 'Bill' Hartert -- Plainview

The memorial service for William "Bill" Hartert will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, with Father William Becker officiating.

Mr. Hartert, 65, of Plainview, passed away on Friday morning, Aug. 11, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

William Joseph Hartert was born Feb. 12, 1952, in Wabasha, to Arthur and Francis (Costello) Hartert, Jr. He attended school in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and in Plainview, graduating from Plainview High School. On Oct. 23, 1976, he married Diane Caves at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.

Bill worked as a plumber, and worked for Siefert Plumbing of Millville for 23 years. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying spending time golfing, and loved to maintain his lawn. Bill was a very good carpenter and loved wood working.

Bill was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Plainview American Legion, and Pheasants Forever. He especially enjoyed spending time with his dog "Norton" who was like his fourth child.

Bill is survived by his children, Melissa Hartert, Sunny Hartert, and Anthony Hartert, all of Plainview; sisters, Kathy (Tim) Bigell of Arkansaw, Wis., Ginny (Butch) Kronebusch and Joanne (Donny) Schultz, both of Plainview, and Mary Lou (Gary) Fritz of Ogden, Utah; brothers, Tom Hartert of Arizona, and John (Lindy) Hartert of Plainview; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane on Jan. 21, 2011; and one nephew, Brent Bigell.

Friends and family may visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
