William 'Billy' Schmoll - Spring Valley

The funeral service for William "Billy" Schmoll, 25, of rural Spring Valley, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Brian and Andrea Brinker officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.

Mr. Schmoll died Thursday (Feb. 2, 2012), of injuries suffered in an auto accident on Highway 63, south of Spring Valley.

William Eugene Schmoll was born March 30, 1986, in Kodiak Island, Alaska, to Kevin and Monica (Mahon) Schmoll. He moved with his family at the age of 6 months to Stewartville, where he grew up, attended school and graduated from Stewartville High School. He was employed in construction for a short time and then was employed at Valley Design in Fountain for a number of years, currently as a machinist.

Bill enjoyed reading about and studying history, fishing, riding motorcycle, watching movies and playing Xbox. He enjoyed making people laugh and was always pulling pranks on friends and family. He loved all his family and especially enjoyed being a grandson and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his mother, Monica Hammill of rural Spring Valley; his father, Kevin Schmoll of Rochester; four sisters and their children, Kristine (John) Spillers and Brienne of Mankato; Danielle (Kirby Dudley) Schmoll and Graesyn of Eagle Lake; Nancy (Brian) Paul and Kara, Sari, Elle, Abi, Caed and Zanna of Indianapolis; and Mandy Sample and Dylan, Nathan and Caleb of University Park, Iowa; significant other, Teresa Pruitt and their daughter, MaKayla, of rural Spring Valley; his grandmothers, Darlene Mahon of Rochester and Adaline Ramsey of Humansville; paternal grandfather, Wilbur Schmoll; step-grandmother, Barbara Mahon of Stewartville; step-siblings and their children, Josh Hammill and Kiersten of Racine; Kayla Hammill (Jared Kraetsch) and Kameran of Stewartville; Kristy Hammill (Adam Fretty) and Madalynn and Tayte of Chester; and Taylor Hammill (Trevor Lange) and Hailey and Carter of Preston.

Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Heather Schmoll; step-dad, Gerald Hammill; and grandfathers, William Mahon and Ken Ramsey.

Friends called from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville and an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
