Yvonne Zarling — Plainview
Yvonne Zarling, 82, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.
Yvonne was born July 7, 1931, in Rochester, to Rudi and Ruby (Pike) Wiese. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1949.On Oct. 5, 1952, she married Vernon Ihrke. They farmed in the Dover and Elgin area. Vernon died July 19, 1967. Yvonne then married Archie Zarling on Aug. 23, 1968. The couple farmed north of Plainview. Yvonne had also worked at Lakeside Foods in Plainview and Christenson Accounting in Rochester. Archie died Nov. 12, 2007, and then Yvonne moved into Plainview.
She was a member of the Elgin American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed knitting, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include her children, Bruce (Susan) Ihrke and Mark (Susan) Ihrke, both of Plainview and Joanne Ihrke of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Stead.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and one sister, Marie Kehren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Plainview, with the Rev. John Curtiss officiating. Burial is at the Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
