Office supply superstore Staples Inc. will join the Rochester Marketplace development just north of IBM Rochester, with construction scheduled to be completed in May.
The Rochester store will be only the company's second store in Minnesota. The other store is in Austin.
The Staples will feature office furniture, supplies, computers and other business just less than 24,000 square feet, a written release. The store also will offer high-speed copying on site, self-service copiers, binding, faxing, computer software installation and Federal Express overnight delivery services in its Business Technology Center.
The new Staples also will make several business services available. They include payroll processing, shipping, telecommunications service and Internet services
The store will employ about 40 workers.
"Staples has executed a lease contract for Rochester and is excited by the prospect of entering this market," vice-chairman Joseph Vassalluzzo said in an announcement.
Staples is publicly held, with annual sales of close to $9 billion. The retailer operates 1,200 stores worldwide.
Industry giant OfficeMax and local suppliers, such as Schmidt Goodman Office Products, Beckley's Office Products and Wagers Business Systems, also operate at Rochester.
