Southeast Minnesota is truly a unique and rich region to live. A key source of this bounty is the presence of good soil and clean, fresh water. Together they support the most diverse ecology in the entire state, with productive farm land and abundant wildlife. They're the primary reasons why humans have lived in this region for centuries.
For more than 30 years I have supported environmental stewardship and education by serving in volunteer capacities or on boards of Clean Water Action, Citizens for a Better Environment, Bluff Land Environment Watch, the Mississippi River Revival, and Bluff Country Coop. Our family strongly supports the policies and mission of the Land Stewardship Project and sustainable land use and management.
We also believe that urban communities and citizens can be proactive in resource conservation. especially when it comes to energy use, waste reduction, and rain water recovery. Our families' solar home project in Winona is an example of many of the things people can do themselves to conserve resources.
I will work hard to conserve the precious resources of this region for both current and future generations, and ask you to support me by putting up a yard sign or voting for me on Nov. 6 for Soil & Water Conservation District III.
