A vision plan for Eastside

In reply to Dr. Fleming’s letter printed on Aug. 9:

The downtown Eastside Pioneers Neighborhood is blessed to have two distinct voices representing its residents, property owners and businesses: Eastside Pioneers Neighborhood Association (ESPNA) and Imagine Eastside.  Both groups are made up entirely of Eastside residents or property owners. Like Imagine Kutzky and Imagine Slatterly, Imagine Eastside is supported with funding from the Rochester Area Foundation.

€¨Imagine Eastside has formed the following mission: "To preserve the single family foundation of our neighborhood while promoting and influencing growth that will improve and enhance the overall quality of life for the residents."  We recognize Rochester’s long-term plans for a vibrant downtown and wish to work with city leaders and developers to simultaneously preserve and revitalize our neighborhood — not only with commercial and residential development but also in terms of green space, transportation, accessibility, bike paths and more.€¨

For example, Fourth Street Southeast is an important connection in our neighborhood, and we would like to see it grow into a beautiful, pedestrian-friendly, architecturally interesting corridor that will provide useful services and quality housing for Eastside residents.

As always, we invite all the residents of Eastside Pioneers Neighborhood to join us in creating a vision plan for our neighborhood.  All residents of Eastside Pioneers Neighborhood are welcome to our meetings. Details of our work and our next meeting can be found on our website, ImagineEastside.org.€¨
