Once again, the Fourth of July has come and gone, and once again Austin has had an outstanding Fourth of July celebration. Even the rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of our citizens and guests. SPAMtown USA Freedom Fest is the one event every year that most pulls all of us together to celebrate our freedom.
While it is the veterans of this great nation to whom we owe our freedom, it is the Chamber of Commerce whom we should thank for the great festival that Freedom Fest has become. The Chamber of Commerce staff works months to organize Freedom Fest, and if you attended the parade or events at the Bandshell, you could not miss seeing them constantly on the move keeping things going. Also, the Park and Rec employees once again did an amazing job of cleaning up afterwards. The Austin police, police reserves and explorers did an excellent job as well.
It is easy to forget that many people give up their holiday so that the rest of us can enjoy ours. A heartfelt thank-you for a job well done goes out to all of you.
