Charter pricing flexibility would benefit subscribers on a budget

Amen to the letter to the editor, "Charter needs to change its cable pricing structure to allow flexibility" written by Jeff Morgan in the Sept. 25 issue. I often suggest to Charter they offer an a la carte pricing structure to make their service and pricing more acceptable to subscribers.

My wife and I are retired, and as Jeff Morgan pointed out, we watch only a limited number of 15 to 20 channels. Charter deliberately places desirable channels in different tiers so subscribers are forced to pay more for something special they want. In our opinion, there are hundreds of useless channels that subscribers pay for that hardly anyone ever watches.

We had planned on purchasing a TV for the family room for our grandchildren to watch, but Charter has quashed that idea since we can't afford to pay for another box. It was refreshing to read in the Oct. 1 issue that the Rochester City Council is not letting Charter run roughshod over its subscribers. Even the Answer Man got in the act.

What should happen is 200 or 300 angry subscribers carrying placards should march for their concerns in the Charter parking lot. There will come a time when bills catch up with us as we grow older, and the first thing to go will be excess cable channels.
