DMC shouldn't come at the expense of common folks

I really am tired of reading in your newspaper all the stuff on the Destination Medical Center initiative. It seems to me we should just change the name of our city to DMC and eliminate the name of Rochester.

I see little today in your paper about what is being done to improve the living standards of us common folks. I think the energy of our local boards, city and county is dwarfing the energy being given to the living conditions of the vast majority of people in Rochester. The elected officials are apparently trying to create a playground for the rich and are expecting the less fortunate to pay for this.

I remember when a past mayor made the remark that the people of Rochester didn't know enough to vote for what was good for them. He was voted out the following election. Our city and county boards must redirect their commitments and actions to the citizens of Rochester with the intent of making their lives more achievable without the penalties of paying for the DMC.

Are these boards today just puppets for the Mayo Clinic? Are there conflicts of interest by the mayor and some of the members of these boards? Maybe we need to clean house of some of the members.
