No D’Amico for Rochester, but Steak ‘n Shake is interested

To answer a reader’s question, Twin Cities-based Italian cafe D’Amico & Sons doesn’t have plans to open a Rochester location in the near future.

But "it could happen," said Lynn Ulrich, managing director for D’Amico’s group of restaurants in Minnesota. "Never say never, right?"

Ulrich noted that D’Amico often gets questions from people from the Rochester area who would like to see a D’Amico restaurant open here. "We absolutely love that market," she said.

There’s better news for a reader who asked about the possibility of Steak ‘n Shake , known for its "steakburgers" and milkshakes, coming to Rochester.

The chain is planning its first locations in Minnesota, and Rochester is on the list of places (along with Mankato and Minneapolis-St. Paul) where it’s looking for a franchisee.
