Ex-BK goes yellow? Huh?
OK, my obession with the former Burger King buildings in Rochester continues.
You know, these are the fast food joints – at 615 S. Broadway and 4107 U.S. 52 N. – that closed down in 2005 following the franchisee's fight with BK corporate . They have been sitting empty ever since. There was an attempt at an auction recently , but that fizzled.
Then this morning, I almost smacked into another car as I cruised by the ex-BK on South Broadway.
The exterior drive-through wall has been painted bright sunshine yellow. It is certainly eye-catching.
So does that mean that somebody has bought or leased the building? I don't know, but it seems like an odd thing to do if you are just trying to improve a building's curb appeal as it sits on the market.
I mean would prosepective buyer say, "Bright yellow. This is just what I've been looking for."
Of course, I'm a dope when it comes to real estate, so maybe that is what will happen.
On my way to the recent Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce bash , I pulled over to the Broadway building to grill some workers who were power-washing the drive-through area (probably in preparation to painting it solar-flare yellow). They said they had no idea what was going on and then we went beyond what our mutual language skills could manage in a feeble attempt at communication.
I'll keep tracking this, so watch it as you drive on North Broadway.
