My dog, Maggie, can't write, so I'll speak for her regarding the presence of dogs at Thursdays on First.
"Please, on behalf of me and my four-legged friends, leave us home where we're comfortable and safe. Walking barefoot on hot pavement while wearing a fur coat is not a pleasant experience. In fact, it's potentially dangerous.
"Unlike humans we do not have sweat glands to regulate our body temp. Look closely, and you'll see us panting, tongue extended, looking miserable in the heat. My human actually witnessed a Yorky collapse and seize from heat exhaustion.
"We love you unconditionally and ask in return that you protect us and keep us from harm's way."
Well said, Maggie.
