Some people are purporting that if Minnesota's marriage amendment is defeated, this will allow for any type of couple to be married.
Not true. Currently, Minnesota law only allows for marriage between opposite-sex couples. Same-sex marriage is not legal and the defeat of this amendment won't change this.
Of much more concern should be what the passing of this marriage amendment could lead too. An amendment to define who is a man/woman? Father/mother? Family?
Do we really need or want the government making these decisions for us? I would hope we all agree that the government should not be involved in defining what constitutes a marriage or family. And because of this, we will vote "No" to Minnesota's marriage amendment on Nov. 6.
