H.S. Hockey: Assistants named at Lourdes

FELDY: Josh Spaniol was named Lourdes new head boys hockey coach a little more than two months ago. Today, he filled out his coaching staff with one familiar name in the Rochester hockey community and another top-quality assistant who is new to the Rochester high school coaching scene.

Kirk Gill and Derek Reynolds will be Spaniol's top assistants. Rick and Tom Lovett will serve as goalie coaches.

Gill is the long-time coach of the Rochester Bantam A Red team, which qualified for two state tournaments this past season. Rick Lovett was also a coach for the talented Bantam squad, which will send a handful of players to Lourdes this winter.

Reynolds, 32, is originally from North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He played for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL in 1996-97, then played three seasons as a forward at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he compiled 19 goals and 44 assists for 63 points. He went on to play five seasons of minor league hockey. More recently he served as an assistant coach with Lincoln of the USHL.
