Here's a radical idea

The public editor of the Orlando Sentinel has come up with a radical idea to make newspapers pop off the newsstand: No jumps from Page One .

A radical proposal: How about making the extra effort of writing short versions of front-page articles that contain all the essential elements but don't have to be jumped -- and referring readers elsewhere only for supplemental material?

Not a bad idea. The Post-Bulletin has been doing it for about 20 years, and I can confirm that it works.
