Ice Hawks down Owls 5-1

PHERSY:Sorry I didn't get something up sooner ... had to rush to a UFC party right after the Ice Hawks game.

Well, I thought the Ice Hawks played really well at times tonight in a 5-1 victory over the rival Minnesota Owls. It wasn't always pretty, but the Ice Hawks played great in the beginning of the first period and for most of the second and parts of the third (make sense???).

Anyway, I'll have more on the game tomorrow and in Monday's paper.

Brach was great in goal again. It looked like he was fighting the puck a bit in the first period, but he was very strong in the second and third. Thompson, Rohrig, Gorman, Mulally and Eckardt scored for the Ice Hawks (Busse scored for the Owls). Ice Hawks held a 41-28 edge in shots on goal.

Attendance was good again Saturday ... 1,387. That means there were more than 3,500 fans at the Rec Center during the two-game set this weekend. Pretty sweet!
