While many of us are painfully aware of how many lives are touched by breast cancer in southeastern Minnesota, we are often surprised at the goodness and generosity that springs from that connection. A recent community event, Big or Small — Save Them All, exemplifies this.
Counselor Realty staff had a personal connection with breast cancer: one of their own was affected. To honor and support her, they put on a breast cancer fundraiser with all donations going to Join the Journey, a local non-profit dedicated to supporting newly diagnosed patients and to raising awareness of the disease. In record time, they secured a hosting site (Wicked Moose), arranged solicited donations for door prizes and silent auction items from scores of businesses, and planned one heck of a party! The highlight of the evening was seeing dozens of breast cancer survivors tear up the dance floor to the song "I Will Survive!"
We at Join the Journey cannot adequately express our gratitude to all who contributed to this event. Not only did it promote breast cancer awareness, it was financially successful and great fun! All money donated will stay in our local community. Please check out our website
