U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar said it's critical that any military action taken by America against Syria in response to alleged use of chemical weapons be done in conjunction with allies.
"I clearly think that this approach of working with our allies as a coalition in response to this and getting all the information we need is the right way to go," she said in an interview in Rochester.
Secretary of State John Kerry said there was "undeniable" evidence of a large-scale chemical attack in Syria with intelligence indicating it was carried out by Bashar al-Assad's government.
In April, Klobuchar joined a bipartisan group of senators on a trip to Israel, Jordan and Turkey to get a closer look at the refugee crisis being caused by Syria's civil war and to examine how U.S. aid was being used. The group later spent an hour meeting with President Obama talking about what they had seen an offering recommendations on how to make sure aid was getting to the right place.
When asked whether she thought it was time for military action against Syria, Klobuchar said, "I think that they need to get all their facts done. But I think that if taken, it should be taken with allies."
