Here's more on Lakeview's changes:

Lakeview Technology , an Illinois-based firm with an office in the Valley High Business Center at 3535 40th Ave. N.W., was purchased by Vision Solutions of Irvine, Calif. on June 8. The sale was announced Wednesday.

What does that mean for the roughly 100 people working in Rochester?

Jobs were cut companywide just prior to the acquisition, says Debbie Madoni Lewis of Vision Solutions.

"Unfortunately, I’ve been told we will not release exact numbers of employee reduction, but the overall total, for both companies, is less than ten percent," she responded by e-mail.

People with jobs that duplicate positions at Vision Solutions — like human resources and business services — were the main focus of the cuts, she said.

Lakeview opened the Rochester office in 1993 and expanded it in 2003.

Both companies market software to work with IBM’s System i server, which is made in Rochester. Competition in that software market is very active.

In May, a trade journal reported that Lakeview had taken over a large customer — Black Gaming Operations in Nevada — from Vision Solutions.

This is the second recent acquisition of a rival that Vision has made. In October 2006, it absorbed iTera, Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah.
