It's midsummer, and we've finally had our first real heat wave. Again, one must think of the issue of leaving pets in automobiles.
We are the advocate of our favorite friends. They are unable to tolerate the heat generated when a car is parked, regardless of whether the windows open or closed. Our animals are vulnerable either way.
The temperature inside a parked car can exceed 100 degrees in a matter of minutes. Please leave your dog at home.
We all love them, and many of us like to take them with us on short trips, but they are safer at home. Take them for a short walk or a romp around the yard later.
Dogs don't like long-distance running, either. They are short sprinters and want to sniff and check out everything along the way. Again, if you're running a few miles, just go do it. Your dog will be a lot happier going on a nice walk with you after you get back.
