Sincere thanks to the Post-Bulletin for the Sept. 17 spread on our country's constitution. I hope it was well read by everyone and especially by Rep. Kim Norton.

Pay special attention to the Second Amendment. Kayak ownership is not protected under our constitution, our guns are.

There is a very important reason why no law or regulation should ever be attempted to limit our right to bear arms and never cause our personal defense to be compromised.

We will never let that happen. People completely understand the effort to register guns is a political first step toward eventual confiscation. If the government doesn't know where the guns are, coming after them won't be so easy.

A very intelligent man said you have a right to not believe in owning a gun, and, you have a right to not believe in God. But, if someone is trying to break into your house, you will call someone who has a gun and pray he gets there first.

Laws and regulations to curtail the freedoms of law-abiding citizens will not change the violence committed by criminals. A criminal's gun is not registered and never will be.

One last word, be careful who you vote for. It really matters.
