GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, when asked by CBS' "Face The Nation" host John Dickerson on Dec. 6 whether Muslims in America should be tracked and racially profiled after the San Bernadino shootings, answered, "I think there can be profiling." Trump went further by stating, "Everybody wants to be politically correct. You have people that have to be tracked. If they're Muslims, they're Muslims."
Has Donald Trump not learned anything from history? Apparently not.
European Jews were denied their humanity, and thus more than 6 million perished. Seventy-four years ago, the U.S. dehumanized and profiled Japanese-Americans, sending millions to internment camps for the duration of World War II.
What Donald Trump is advocating is institutionalized racism and religious bigotry of a segment of the American population who mean this country no harm, all because of a few rotten apples. Muslim Americans are correct to be outraged at such a suggestion. Their voices are needed.
With Trump as the face and voice of the Republican Party, this is who the party has become. The ugliness continues. A vote for Trump is a vote to destroy any good left in this country. Is this what we have become as a nation?
