Letter: We need a new way of thinking so we can stand together for our military

It is said we have two brains. One brain decides from our belief systems, and the other brain is our gut feeling.

We make decisions based on our favorite sources. We believe what we read, so we read what we believe. Many times, we judge others based on what we see as differences. Such divide-and-conquer tactics have been used successfully for eons.

Did you know most countries perceive Americans as war mongers that go to war for power and profit, yet the U.S. citizens mostly believe we're missionaries of keeping the peace, with the use of massive weaponry?

The U.S. has been at war for 209 years out of the 235 years we've been a nation. Even in the 1970s when I served in the military for six years, I saw the outsourcing of our military with civilians hired by corporations taking over jobs service members had been trained for.

So, my two brains are working together as I see soldiers in harm's way, breaking ground for huge corporate greed and their huge profit. No matter how much brain-washing I get, my gut feeling tells me we need to stand together. Whatever side we thought we were on, you are on my side and I am on yours.
