According to an article in the April 9 Post Bulletin, Minnesota’s secretary of state was calling on our Legislature to expand mail-in-voting in order to prevent what happened during the Wisconsin presidential primary from happening in Minnesota. The current legislative session ends on May 18 and nothing has yet been done.
It is important that we protect people’s health and voting rights by proactively providing them with options to cast their ballot and ensure they have the information necessary to use the option that is best for them.
I recently needed to file an absentee ballot for the first time and had difficulty locating the correct procedures for applying. It is a complicated process that should be made easier. Minnesota voters, please contact your legislators and Gov. Walz and ask that they take steps to protect our voting rights before the end of this legislative session or we might likely follow in the footsteps of our neighbors.
