Has the coronavirus blindsided us? Medical experts tell us that it is not leaving us anytime soon. Are we adequately preparing for that eventuality? Realistically, a vaccine will not be available until at least next spring, we are told.
Rochesterfest, county fairs and state fairs are being canceled this summer in the due to the pandemic. Do we then think we are safe from the virus when we fill the streets with protesters?
One doctor has told us to do the math. With the curve flattened, we are still experiencing 800 to 1,000 deaths per day from COVID-19 nationwide. Over the three summer months, that equals another 72,000 to to 90,000 deaths by September with no spike in new cases. That is very disturbing news, my fellow Americans!!
To avoid another devastating lockdown, each of us can do our part by continuing masking, social distancing and avoiding large gatherings. Let's endeavor to be a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
