We wish to express our love and appreciation to Dr. Abboud on his retirement. He is not only a fantastic soccer coach, but an outstanding individual who had tremendous influence on every athlete who was fortunate to work with him and play on one of his teams.
His talent for instilling respect among his players created a team atmosphere with genuine camaraderie between the players. He brought my daughters up to his summer high school age team when they were 11 years old. It was a very smooth transition because of the respect and admiration all the players had for him and any decisions he made.
While playing for Dr. Abboud, my daughters were fortunate to receive many honors thanks to the skills they learned from him: First Outstate Girls Soccer Players named to Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches All State Team (1994, 1995), selected for Minnesota Select Olympic Development Team (1992-95), selected for Region II National Olympic Development Training Camp (1994), selected for National Olympic Development Eight States Regional Team (1994), selected for National Olympic Development Training Camp in San Diego (1994).
I mention all of this because it demonstrates Dr. Abboud’s tremendous influence as a coach and mentor who greatly enriched my daughters’ lives. I know they are just two of the many young people who were lucky to have him in their lives. He is definitely one in a million, and we can never thank him enough for everything.
