Recently, we watched a film: “The Ethnic Cleansing of Sheikh Jarrah.” Israeli settlers were filmed forcing their way into Palestinian homes, running throughout rooms and hallways and shouting that they will take over these homes in early May. One young Palestinian said that some 500 families in his neighborhood of East Jerusalem are being threatened with eviction from property that Israel granted them legal claim to decades ago. They, like the thousands of other Palestinians who are being driven from their homes, have no place to go, and of course no recourse in the Israeli system where they know that their judge and jury will be settlers.

But we have recourse. There is still time, time to ask Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith and Rep. Jim Hagedorn to speak out against this pending atrocity. This is but one way that we also reduce our own complicity in Israel’s crimes until such time as $3.8 billion in aid is stopped or the apartheid Israeli regime is dismantled.
