Letter: Lawsuit is attempt to delay mail ballots

Court action is politically motivated.

At this time when there are efforts to disable the US Postal Service by the Trump administration to hamper mail-in voting, the Aug. 11 Post Bulletin reported the article "Olmsted County set to defend plan for Nov. 3 absentee ballot reviews." A lawsuit was filed by the Republican Party of Minnesota and its ally Minnesota Voters Alliance regarding the process of overseeing how questioned mail in ballots are accepted or rejected in Olmsted County, Ramsey County, Minneapolis and Duluth. This is a politically motivated effort to delay, disrupt or raise doubt about mail-in voting, which is another way to suppress the vote.

I am writing to express my strong belief in the importance of Boy Scouts for our youth. Scouting is a youth development program that helps young people become responsible citizens, active members of their communities, and leaders in their own lives. Through hands-on learning activities, outdoor activities, and service projects, scouts learn outdoor safety, problem solving, teamwork, self-confidence, and much more. They also develop important life skills such as mutual respect and understanding, communication, goal setting, creativity, honesty, and integrity.
