Musician has Rochester roots

Let's not give Iowa all the credit for the amazing couple who graced the front page of a recent issue of the Post-Bulletin.

Marlow Cowan was born and raised in Rochester. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1936, and he began his musical career here when, shortly after graduation, he and some of his buddies organized a small dance band known as the Scarlet Kings. He was also an Eagle Scout from local Troop 21 at Christ United Methodist Church.

I have the pleasure of being a longtime friend of his, was also a member of the Scarlet Kings and am also an Eagle from Troop 21.
