After about nine months of work, Rochester's newest bakery is cooking up pastries along South Broadway to serve up with java from a partner coffee shop.

Rochester’s popular Daube’s Bakery opened a new southeast location in the former Carousel Floral and Gift center, at 1600 S. Broadway, this weekend.

That’s the high-profile spot on the corner of South Broadway and 16th Street Southeast.

It has been a long haul for that site.

Work started on the transition in September, soon after the flower store closed to consolidate with the large Carousel center at 1717 41st St. NW.

This is Daube’s third Rochester location, along with the original Civic Center Drive bakery and Daube’s Down-Under in the downtown Rochester subway.

Daube's is partnering with  Lumen Coffee at the south Broadway shop, so customers can order up a cup of black joe or a latte with their doughnuts or pie.

Bryce Fogelson brewed up the first Lumen location in 2017 in the former Snappy Stop drive-thru burger booth at 3550 55th St. N.W., tucked between Discount Tire and Affinity Credit Union in front of the Northwest Plaza shopping complex.
