Prescott's to open Jan. 6

The word is that Prescott's, Rochester's latest independent eatery, will open Jan. 6. That comes from food guru Matt Russell.

Owner Chris Rohe says progress is being made as construction continues at Prescotts, a new south Rochester restaurant that will have a rustic European ambiance.

"It's been kind of slow, but it's coming together," said Rohe, who this summer had guessed at a mid-October opening for his restaurant at 1201 S. Broadway. "We'd love to open sometime in December, but realistically we're looking at sometime after the first of the year."

Rohe said the Crossroads Plaza restaurant will have an extensive wine list, which includes several small boutique wines. Entrees will fall in the $13 to $21 range, he said, and include items such as a seared duck breast, pork marsala, grilled king salmon and veal ossobuco.

Rohe said Prescotts will also have its own baker and pastry chef who will make fresh European hearth breads along with homemade pies, pastries and cakes. He said the restaurant will offer a variety of fresh salads, make its own sausages and offer appetizer and dessert cheese boards.
