President Obama doing the right thing

When Barack Obama was elected in 2008, I was invigorated and hopeful of the American political system. The years 2008 and 2009 were tumultuous, filled with economic uncertainty for nearly all socioeconomic levels world-wide.

For the American people it seemed as if every week was a big news week, and for some it felt like there would be no end to government intervention in our lives. I felt that the dire situation was the greatest opportunity given to America since the Roosevelt and Truman years.

This was the time to tackle challenges that have plagued our nation since the 1970s, and I believe President Obama felt the same way. Without action and investment in energy policy, global climate change, health care and prekindergarten through doctorate level education, one day we’ll all look back and say, "Where did we go wrong?"

I support President Obama and the strides he has made to run an accountable and transparent White House, defend peace and human rights on the world stage and tackle the hard issues that all modern

administrations have ignored. President Obama continues to do the right thing, even if it is not the most popular thing among ignorant, fickle Americans.
