Red Wing Police Department Investigates Dead Baby found in Laundry

On April 16 th, 2013 at 12:29 PM, the Red Wing Police Department received a call from a citizen that a dead baby was found in hospital linens at the Crothal Laundry (Hygienic Service Systems, Inc), 950 Featherstone Road in Red Wing.  Officers responded and upon investigations learned that a baby fell out of a sheet being prepared for cleaning.  The baby had a tag on its ankle and was wearing a diaper.  Witnesses stated that the originating hospital was notified and sent personnel to the laundry to pick up the baby, prior to police arrival.  The linens that the baby was located in originated from Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.  The Red Wing Police Department then requested assistance from the St. Paul Police Department.  Further investigation revealed that the baby was a male, still born on April 4 th, 2013.  The baby was placed in the Regions Hospital morgue and it is unknown how the baby ended up in the linens sent to Red Wing for cleaning.  There is no indication of foul play, and the Red Wing Police Department would like to thank the St. Paul Police Department and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner for their assistance in this matter.
