Regarding sex and the Bible

Feedback from a reader regarding our teen sex stories and my column last Wednesday...I get about one of these a week from far and wide:

Subject: Post Bulletin, How Do You Write About Teen Sex?
Re: Post Bulletin Articles, Yours and Jeff Hansel's ELCA Discovery of God

Dear Managing Editor Furst,

I read with interest the Post-Bulletin’s articles ... I really don’t think the teens today are looking for this kind of news. What they are looking for is the way, the truth and the life that can only be found in the Bible. With the Bible as your reference book, you will be able to find God’s principle for every aspect of your life. You will be able to bring the bits and pieces of your life into connection with the general laws of God. That’s why we must provide every school child with a reference book, the Bible, in the public schools so they will know the truth and have laws to live by.

God’s Law
1 Corinthians 5:9 I have written you not to associate with sexually immoral people.
5:11 You must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral. With such a man do not even eat.
5:13 Expel the wicked man from among you. (excommunication)
6:13 The body is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord and the Lord for the body.
6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?
6:18 Flee from sexual immorality, he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
6:20 Honor God with your body.

Leviticus 24:16 Anyone who blasplemes the name of the Lord must be put to death.

Matthew 12:31 But the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

Teens today honor their parents so when they are in their homes they live by their rules. When they go to the street they must live by their laws. When they are in the back seat of their car with a friend, they don’t know what to do, what the rules or consequences are. They would like to study these in a school room setting where all their peers get the same rules and if they have questions they have a teacher to help them with the answers.

Sex is the greatest problem in the life of a male teenager. Please help him with his problem. Get the Bible in the schools as a reference book.
