Reichel Foods of Rochester is recalling about 15,880 pounds of ready-to-eat meat products due to possible contamination with listeria.
The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture says the recalled products are 5.6 oz. packages of Armour Active Packs Turkey & Cheese Wrap and Armour Active Packs Ham & Cheese Wrap. No cases of illness due to eating the meat have been reported.
The possible contamination was discovered by Reichel Foods when a outside firm tested the meat. The Armour Active Packs in question were produced between July 23 and July 26. They have a "sell by" date of Sept. 1, 2012.
The packages are marked with the number "P-19941" or "Est. 19941" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were shipped to distribution centers in Indiana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
Eating meat contaminated with listeria can result in a serious bacterial infection called listeriosis. The disease primarily affects older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems.
