Roch. Bank is Minnwest now

Here's a short piece by Bob Freund on the completion of the acquisition of Rochester Bank by Minnwest:

Customers of Rochester Bank now are taking their money to Minnwest Bank Rochester.

Minnwest Corp. of Minnetonka, Minn., this week finished its purchase of the local bank from Aumanchester Inc. of Rochester.

Founded in 1958 at Miracle Mile Shopping Center, the bank’s headquarters is on the north fringe of the shopping center and it operates a single branch in Hammond.

"Changes that will take place immediately include longer hours with full-service banking available later on Friday evenings and (on) Saturday mornings," new president Tom Heepke said in a written release.

Clients can continue to use their current checks and electronic access cards. Minnwest also plans to offer new, interest-bearing accounts and to expand business and farm lending, he said.

Heepke said Minnwest plans to "more than double the size of the bank" from about $44 million in assets to $100 million over the next couple of years.

Minnwest operates six banks with 24 branches in southwestern and central Minnesota, and Sioux Falls, S.D.
