Think about the qualities that you, as a resident of Rochester's Ward 5, would like in your new councilman.
Timothy Schmitt, a lifelong resident of Rochester and a Ward 5 homeowner of 20 years, has deep roots in this community. A graduate of John Marshall High School with degrees from UMD and Winona State University in business and accounting, Tim's interests and experiences have resulted in a broad and diverse educational background. He has been active in community and neighborhood programs, such as tree plantings and Litter Bit Better. As the leader of the Northrup Neighborhood Association, he has a reputation of being knowledgeable, caring and actively involved in neighborhood issues.
Tim has attended more than 80 city council meetings during the past few years and regularly attends neighborhood meetings to learn about and understand many of the issues in the community. His involvement in the pursuit of Rochester adopting its first Heritage Preservation Ordinance is an example of his persistence and dedication.
When it comes to roots in the community, educational background, neighborhood leadership and being informed about local- and citywide issues, Timothy Schmitt stands out as highly qualified to represent Ward 5. Remember, your council member is your link to your city government. Please vote Timothy Schmitt on July 30.
